SAVING THE MANOR [TV sHOw 2022]
My Tiny Estate has seen a hive of activity during 2021/2022 as the filming of the season premiere of Saving The Manor was recorded during the winter closure of the rental accommodation.
The season recorded us, as we tackled the restoration of key areas of the estate, read below the synopsis of each episode and what we achieved. It was no easy task, we had a lot to get done and I think we picked all the hardest projects to get completed in one go. It was a very busy winter!!…
EPISODE 01 Saving the Donkey
Dean and Borja decide to close their vacation rentals and give their total focus to a long, hard winter of restorations to the manor; first up is the main floor of their historic Stables building
We restored the old Coach House, Tack Room and Stables themselves. The first episode also touches on all the other spaces with have completed to date as well
EPISODE 02 The Secret Stairway
A tree has been growing through the roof of a gorgeous yet dilapidated English estate, and now Dean and Borja work to make the manor watertight once again; they look to restore crucial stairway access and create a new bathroom and a secret door.
This area had been stressing us out for a long time, the roof was rotten and we had water running into the house when it rained, we had to get this weathertight. We completed the entire servants stairs, the manor house boot room and toilet
EPISODE 03 Judge a book by its cover
The pressure is on to convert the stable's hayloft into a palatial apartment, which will create much needed rental income. Dean and Borja look to construct a posh, one-bedroom suite, and they'll tackle the entrance foyer and library first.
The large hayloft on the upper floor of the stables was shouting out for conversion and our first space we converted was the library as you entered the loft, a nice homage to the manor house which was the public library for the town for 60 years.
EPISODE 04 SPIRITS IN THE STABLES
To welcome guests for the coming season, Dean and Borja look to spruce up and complete the finishing touches on the servant's cottage facade. Also, paranormal energy is afoot at the estate, and a psychic medium is called upon to set Borja's mind at ease.
The facade of the estate needs a lot of love so we have been doing it a bit at a time, we had already completed the Caretakers Cottage Facade and in this episode we completed the Servants Cottage. We also go down to the cellar below the manor house and work on restoring the spaces down there
EPISODE 05 LONG COLD SHOWER
The manor's outdoor bathrooms are collapsing, unsafe and need extensive renovation. Now, Dean and Borja plan to transform the rotting facilities into a posh garden spa equipped with an outdoor shower and opulent landscaping.
I still think this was one of our hardest restorations to date, the outdoor bathrooms were in such bad condition and we had set our minds on restoring them back to their former glory… even if most just think they are only outdoor bathrooms. We could see the potential in them
EPISODE 06 BEDSIDE MANOR
Restoring a 300-year-old hayloft has become a royal pain in the neck, but now, Dean and Borja look to push through to create a divine bedroom and bathroom suite that will be the jewel in the crown for the once dilapidated Stables building.
Another space within the hayloft above the stables is the bedroom accommodation above the coach house. It was surprising how much space was actually up there and we managed to create a bedroom, closet and ensuite all the while working around the original timbers.
EPISODE 07 COURTYARD JESTER
To turn the scruffy Servants’ Courtyard into an event space for their guests, Dean and Borja look to transform an old outbuilding into a bar with a water feature. Also, they need to have it completed in time for a party while the tulips are blooming!
Anyone that has been following our journey will know that the servants courtyard has been our most demanding project to date. We can finally announce it is complete after finishing off all the key pieces of the puzzle in this episode. This included an extra planter, water feature and bar area.
EPISODE 08 FINAL KEY IN THE LOCK
Dean and Borja race to finish the final space in the stable's hayloft apartment, a stunning kitchen and dining space with a luxurious lounge area. Every detail must be perfect and completed in time to reopen the manor for their guests in the spring.
It was an emotional last episode as after a very intense winter we finish the final space, we definitely left the best space until last which was the open place space in the hay loft above the stables
The show premiered in USA, UK, Canada, Ireland and Australia in October 2022 with further countries due to air it in November 2022.
